How to use the URL Decoder

  1. Paste an encoded URL or text.
  2. Choose Decode, Encode component or Encode full URL.
  3. Copy the result and review the URL parts and parameters.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between encoding a component and a full URL?

Component encoding also escapes characters like / ? & =, for use inside a parameter value. Full URL encoding keeps the URL structure.

Why do I see %2520 in URLs?

The text was encoded twice (%25 is the percent sign). The decoder repeats decoding to handle this.

Does + mean a space?

In form-encoded query strings, yes. You can turn this off if your + signs are literal.
